Group Therapy
Group therapy brings people together to learn, practice, and support one another in a focused, skill-building environment. At OkieStrong Behavioral Health & Counseling, groups are small and clinician-guided so you can try tools in real time—grounding, emotion regulation, communication, boundaries, and mindfulness—and leave with clear steps to use between sessions.
Why Group Therapy Helps
- Learn skills and get feedback in a supportive setting
- Reduce isolation—“I’m not the only one going through this”
- Practice communication, boundary-setting, and repair with coaching
- Build accountability and momentum between sessions
- Take home practical exercises and checklists you can actually use
Common Group Themes
Anxiety management · Grief support · Trauma-informed stabilization · Mindfulness/grounding · Stress & burnout recovery · Emotion regulation (DBT-informed) · Coping with life transitions
What to Expect
Groups are usually 60–90 minutes and run in short cycles (e.g., 6–8 weeks) or as ongoing series. A typical session includes a brief check-in, skill teaching and practice, and a short take-home assignment. You’re welcome to share at your comfort level; listening and learning are participation, too.
Format & Availability
Groups are primarily in-person to support connection and effective practice. Telehealth groups may be available only for mobility or distance limitations; availability varies by clinician and topic and is not appropriate for crisis situations.
Group Therapy at OkieStrong Behavioral Health & Counseling offers a supportive space to share experiences, build coping skills, and grow together with others who understand.
