Getting Started

Please review this Counseling FAQ and direct any further questions to our office. We are always happy to help!

How do I schedule an appointment?

You can schedule an appointment by calling our office, submitting a request through our website, or contacting us directly via email at Admin@OkieStrongTherapy.com. We will respond promptly to walk you through the next steps.

What should I bring to my first appointment?

Please bring a photo ID, your insurance card (if applicable), and any completed intake forms we may have sent you. If you are using private pay, payment is due at the time of service. You are welcome to bring a list of questions, concerns, or goals you would like to discuss.

Confidentiality & Privacy

Is what I share in therapy confidential?

Yes. Your privacy is protected by law under HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act). What you share in therapy is confidential, with only a few exceptions required by law. These exceptions include situations where there is a risk of serious harm to yourself or others, or when child or elder abuse is disclosed. In those cases, your therapist is legally obligated to take steps to protect safety.

Will my information be shared with anyone?

Not without your written consent. We do not share your information with employers, family members, or outside parties unless you authorize it in writing or it is required by law.

Insurance & Payment

Do you accept insurance?

Absolutely! OkieStrong accepts a variety of insurance plans for behavioral health services. If you would like to use insurance, our team is happy to help you navigate the process and answer any questions you may have.

How can I found out if you are in-network with my insurance?

The best way to confirm if we are in-network with your insurance plan is to contact our office directly. We will gladly gather your insurance information, verify your benefits, and let you know your coverage details before your first appointment. You can view our network participation here, but it is always a good idea to confirm network participation by contacting our office!

What should I do if my insurance changes during treatment?

If your insurance coverage changes at any point during your treatment, please notify our office as soon as possible. This helps us verify your new benefits and update your billing information to preserve continuity of care. You are responsible for any charges that are not covered by insurance if notice of change is not given prior to services being rendered.

We are here to assist you through the process and answer any questions about how the change might affect your sessions. Keeping your insurance information current ensures a smooth experience and helps us provide the best possible support.

The Therapy Process

What can I expect from therapy?

Therapy is a collaborative process. We will work together to identify your goals, explore emotions and behaviors, develop new coping strategies, and promote long-term change. You’ll always be met with empathy, respect, and a non-judgmental space.

How often will I need to come?

Frequency varies depending on your goals and needs. Some clients come weekly, others bi-weekly or monthly. We will determine what works best for you during your first few sessions, but we will always strive to meet the individual needs of each, and every, client.

Can therapy really help me?

Yes!—therapy can be life-changing. Whether you are facing anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, or simply want to grow, therapy can provide tools, insight, and healing in a supportive space.

Scheduling & Cancellations

What if I need to cancel or reschedule an appointment?

We understand that life happens. We ask that you give at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. Cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice will be subject to a $50 late-cancellation fee.

What happens if I miss my appointment?

We understand that life can take unexpected turns. If you miss an appointment without giving notice, a missed-appointment fee will apply—based on the rate set by the contracts between OkieStrong Behavioral Health & Counseling and our insurance partners. Thank you for working with us to protect time for your care and for all those who seek support.

Other Topics

What appointment times are available? I work a difficult schedule.

We understand that life does not always follow a 9-to-5 schedule—and neither do we. At OkieStrong, we offer flexible scheduling. If your work schedule is complex or unpredictable, we will do our best to find a time that fits your life. Your mental health matters, and we are committed to making care accessible and realistic.

Do you offer virtual/telehealth appointments?

Yes, we offer secure, HIPAA-compliant virtual sessions for clients located in Oklahoma and Utah. This is a convenient option for many clients with busy schedules or mobility concerns.

Can someone come into the session with me?

In most cases, therapy is intended to be a private and confidential space between the client and therapist. However, there are situations where having a spouse, parent, caregiver or support person present may be helpful—especially with children, couples, or family-focused work.

If you feel it would be beneficial to include someone in your session, please talk with your therapist in advance. We approach these situations on a case-by-case basis, always with the client’s well-being and therapeutic goals in mind.

If you have any questions not addressed in the Counseling FAQ, please do not hesitate to contact our office directly via phone, email, or the contact form provided here. We are here to help in any way that we can!
