The Person Behind the Therapist

My story began on a military base in southern Oklahoma — born to two parents who weren’t ready to be parents. I was adopted at a young age and raised by a Silent Generation father and a Baby Boomer mother — two people whose very different life experiences taught me about perseverance, grace, and grit.

I was told at a young age that I would never graduate college. During my junior year of high school, I was humiliated in front of my classmates when a teacher announced that I didn’t know my biological father — something that was clearly not educational material.

My teen and early adult years carried more trauma and loss, yet those difficult chapters became the foundation of my empathy. They gave me an unshakable understanding of human pain and an unwavering belief that healing is always possible.

I share these experiences not for sympathy, but to remind anyone reading this that life isn’t always easy — and it’s certainly not always fair. But even in the hardest moments, we have the ability to rewrite our story. Every painful experience has shaped the therapist, mother, wife, and person I am today.

I am a proud Oklahoman, a loving wife married to my best friend for over a decade, and a grateful mother to an incredible little boy who fills my heart in ways words can’t describe.

I’ve worked in the mental health field for more than ten years, walking beside individuals, couples, and families as they rediscover their strength, rebuild connection, and heal from their past.

My greatest passion lies in helping couples improve how they interact with one another — because when you find love, it deserves to be protected, nurtured, and fought for.

I’m also deeply committed to helping individuals and families break generational cycles, build emotional awareness, and develop the tools to thrive in everyday life.

When I’m not in session, you’ll likely find me doing something that fills my soul — cheering for the OKC Thunder, exploring amusement parks, discovering new places, soaking up the outdoors, or spending meaningful time with my family. Those moments of joy and adventure remind me that healing isn’t just about surviving — it’s about living fully.

I believe in being real and genuine with everyone I meet. We’ve all experienced betrayal, disconnection, or emotional neglect from those we trusted most. Healing begins when we face that pain with honesty, compassion, and curiosity — and when we reconnect with the parts of ourselves that have been silenced for too long.

My mission is to help every person I work with find the strength and courage to live from a place of wholeness, hope, and authenticity.

My Ideal Client

I work best with:

  • Individuals, couples, and families who are ready to grow and improve their lives and relationships.
  • Those who are serious about their mental and emotional health.
  • People who want to break generational cycles and challenge unhealthy patterns.
  • Clients who want practical tools and strategies for real, lasting change.
  • Anyone who may be struggling but refuses to give up on themselves or the people they love.

My approach may not be a fit for:

  • Those who are not ready or willing to participate in the change process.
  • Individuals, couples, or families who are not yet open to mutual respect and collaboration in therapy.

Professional Credentials

I am a Licensed Marital and Family Therapist (LMFT) and a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Oklahoma. I also serve as an approved supervisor for both licensures.

My undergraduate degree is in Psychology, with a minor in Criminal Justice, and I hold a Master’s degree in Behavioral Science with concentrations in Marriage and Family Therapy and Professional Counseling from Cameron University.

Throughout my academic journey, I was honored to be inducted into three national honor societies — Phi Kappa Phi, Psi Chi, and Alpha Phi Sigma — recognizing excellence in both scholarship and professional achievement.

Therapeutic Signature Style

My therapeutic style is collaborative, grounded, and deeply personalized. Every person’s story is different — and therapy should reflect that.

I draw from several evidence-based frameworks, including:

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) — building emotional regulation, mindfulness, and resilience.
  • Narrative Therapy — exploring and rewriting the stories shaped by pain, history, and experience.
  • Strategic Family Therapy — helping families and couples strengthen communication, structure, and connection.

At the heart of my work is flexibility. If one approach isn’t serving you, we’ll pivot — because therapy should fit you, not the other way around. My goal is to create a space that feels safe, honest, and nonjudgmental — where you can explore, heal, and build the emotional tools to move forward with confidence and clarity.

What It Means to Be OkieStrong

To me, being OkieStrong means more than just enduring hard times — it’s about rising above them together. It’s believing that together, we can break the negative statistics that have defined us for too long and that lasting change begins within each of us.

When we choose to grow, heal, and show up for ourselves, we also strengthen our families, relationships, and communities. OkieStrong is about building a better Oklahoma — one rooted in compassion, resilience, and hope for one another.

Healing takes courage — and you’ve already shown courage by being here. You don’t need to see the whole path to move forward; you just need the willingness to take the first step.

Around here, we define strength by heart, not by perfection. If you’re ready to begin your next chapter — to heal, reconnect, or rediscover who you are — reach out. Together, we’ll take that next step toward something stronger, steadier, and deeply yours.
